Colombia Maragesha (Grand Cru)

Luis Anibal Calderon’s farm, Villa Betulia, in Huila, Colombia, is a living coffee museum housing some of the world's rarest and most exotic coffee varietals. Here, we find the exceedingly rare Maragesha, a hybrid mutation of the Maragogype and Gesha coffee beans. Luis believes this mutation occurred naturally on his farm; a serendipitous accident!

The growing appreciation for coffee varietals mirrors the wine industry's long-standing fascination with grape types like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. The list is ever-growing, but Gesha is perhaps the most famous example!

Over the years French Truck has featured some real rarities - Chilli Bourbon, Wush Wush, Sidra, and Yellow Pacamara to name a few. It is a real treat for us to feature such a rare varietal like Maragesha. While many single-origin offerings blend multiple varietals, the most prized coffees tend to be specialized, single-lot offerings. Like Maragesha, these offerings have such unique profiles that they are best consumed as is.

Luis Anibal has dedicated his life to coffee, working on his father's farm from age 9 and pioneering innovative processing and varietal cultivation. The Maragesha is just the latest example of his passion and expertise.

This Grand Cru is one of the rarest and most exotic coffees we have encountered. Simply put, it is a stunner, and we are thrilled to share it with you!
